Learning Goals: By the end of this lesson you will be able to
- Understand the Course Outline, Expectations, Requirements, On-Line Behaviour etc.
- Share about yourself and get to know everyone in the class
- Understand the Research/Inquiry Process used for Social Studies and use it to complete a short research task
- Reflect on existing knowledge, understanding and interests on social studies and global challenges/change
Success Criteria: By the end of this lesson you will be able to
- understand the set-up of this course, the particular units and content; daily homework and assignment expectations; importance of using zoom and Moodle properly; become familiar with Moodle/Zoom features
- share your background experiences and learning with the class
- become familiar with the Research/Inquiry Process and complete a short research task using the steps
- show thinking and reflecting on global issues/challenges by completing For Learning Welcome Questionnaire
- Answer the questions in this Welcome Questionnaire based on your experiences, thinking and ideas about global social issues. Make sure that you have complete answers and thinking, full sentences, examples etc.
**PDF and post to Moodle below. - 1.Work in groups of 1-2. Be thinking about ONE real global issue/challenge (any size) that is affecting 1 or more societies today. (ex. Medical, Technological, Social, Industrial, Economic)
2. Locate 1 article, video or news report on your chosen global issue/challenge.
