response to Regulation 17; Henri Bourassa’s nationalism versus the imperialist
perspectives of some English Canadians; labour unrest, including the Winnipeg
General Strike ;(B2.1 explain the main causes of World War 1
(e.g. European alliances, rivalries, militarism, and nationalist movements) and
reasons for Canada’s participation in the war
Success Criteria: By the end of this lesson you will be able to
-Understand the geopolitics of warfare in Europe in 1914, and learn the key vocabulary words and terms such as: alliances, imperialism, militarism, nationalism. They will learn these concepts by the use of visuals, youtube & the textbook. They will learn about some of the key battles in WW 1 such as the Ypres , Somme & Vimy Ridge
