LESSON #1
YOU ARE GOING TO BE GIVEN A GLOSSARY OF SINGLE WORDS OR COMPOUND WORDS SEVERAL TIMES EVERY WEEK. These include new and perhaps unfamiliar words the teacher will use in the day's lesson.
YOU SHOULD LOOK UP THE MEANING OF THESE WORDS TO INCLUDE IN YOUR GROWING VOCABULARY AND DESCRIBE THEM AS:
WORD / PART OF SPEECH / DEFINITION / EXAMPLE
For example: action movie
https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/action-movieYOU SHOULD KEEP A NOTEBOOK BESIDE YOU AT ALL TIMES. THIS IS DIFFERENT FROM YOUR PORTFOLIO
TAKE NOTES IN YOUR NOTEBOOK FOR THE FOLLOWING:
1- THE GRAMMAR, NEW VOCABULARY AND INSIGHTS THAT YOU LEARN IN CLASS.
2- DURING INSTRUCTIONS FOR WRITING.
YOUR NOTES SHOULD BE ORGANIZED, TITLED AND DATED.
Watch this music video featuring two of the most famous Canadian rock stars on the Planet: Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber. Then read the lyrics I posted.
Each singer/songwriter became famous when they were still very young. Justin Bieber was only 15-years-old when he rose to fame.
What do the lyrics tell us about their personal struggles?
Read the lyrics posted here and "paraphrase" (put into your own words) the lines that are highlighted in green. We will have a class discussion about the song lyrics and those highlighted words. Also, how would you answer the question: Are they "MONSTERS"?
Read the short article adapted from the Encyclopedia Britannica about the history of Impressionism.
Answer the six (6) questions that follow the article, posting the question as well as your answer in a separate PDF document.
Please write in complete sentences and re-read your work out loud to yourself to help you "notice" any errors. This is a very effective technique using your ears as well as your eyes to notice errors in writing.
