Learning Goals: By the end of this lesson you will be able to
- read and summarize an informational text
- Write an informational text
Instructions: Take notes as you watch the video below. As you watch create some WH Questions ( Who , What, When , Where, How, and Why). Use the answers to the questions to write a short summary of the video.
Then answer the following question: Do you think this is a good invention?

You will be asked to share either your summary or your opinion with the class.
Your teacher will assign one of the five young people featured in this article . As you read, annotate and take notes on the important ideas and vocabulary found in the reading.
Respond to the following questions, and post them in your assignment.
- What important thing (s) has this person done or invented?
- Where did this idea come from?
- What are your thoughts on this young person and their accomplishments?
- What important thing (s) has this person done or invented?
Now it's your turn to write about an inspiring teen!
Instructions: Choose a young person ( under 21) who has done something that can be considered extraordinary, or has made a big impact on their community.
Write a short ( 1-page) informational text, describing the person and their accomplishments. Include biographical information ( name, age, nationality) as well as details about how and why this person has done (whatever they did). Be sure to include an image of the person and any of the graphic details that will make the article easier to read.
Review what you know about information texts before you begin writing. Be sure not to copy sentences from the internet. Use your own words to write your article.
Please download on Moodle what you consider to be your two (2) best entries on your Portfolio.
If you are handwriting your Portfolio take photos of your chosen work and submit that.
The submission deadline is Sunday at 12 noon (Canada time). No extensions!!!
