Unit 1 - All in The Family
This unit establishes the framework for the study of individuals and families in Canada’s diverse society. The purposes of families within all societies will be explained first. The diversity of families and the roles of individuals within their families throughout history will be described next. Since this is a research-based study, the unit presents various disciplines and theoretical perspectives from which individual and family behaviours can be viewed. Finally, the social-science research methods used in the study of individuals and families will be described.
