Specific Expectations:
- Use a wide variety of conversational expressions to negotiate spoken interactions of all types
- Use a wide variety of vocabulary acquisition strategies to enrich and extend vocabulary
- Locate information from a wide variety of print and electronic resources
- Extract information for an independent research project from a wide variety of resources
- Write complex texts to convey information and ideas for academic purposes using a wide variety of forms
- Use a wide variety of connecting devices and transition words and phrases to show relationships between ideas and information in linked sentences and paragraphs.
- Select and use the prewriting strategies most appropriate for the purpose to generate vocabulary and develop and organize ideas for writing
Learning Goals:
- Work with a small group of classmates to complete an activity
- Understand the meaning of everyday idioms
- Use idioms appropriately to describe a person
- Create citations for sources used in information text
- Write an information text about the history of tea, using research information
- Choose the best features to use in information text
