Unit 5 - Derivatives of Exponential and Trigonometric Functions (18 Hours)
In this unit, students will extend their understanding of differentiation to include exponential and trigonometric functions. They will learn to compute and apply the derivatives of functions involving \( e^x, a^x, sinx \) and \( cosx \), as well as combinations of these functions with polynomial expressions. Through both algebraic and graphical approaches, students will investigate how these derivatives describe rates of change in various contexts, including motion, growth, and periodic behaviour. Problem-solving and modeling activities will give students opportunities to explore real-world applications, strengthen their conceptual understanding, and further develop their fluency with derivative rules. By the end of the unit, students will be able to analyze and sketch curves of exponential and trigonometric functions using calculus techniques.
