Unit 3 - Managing Canada's Resources and Industries
Unit Description:
In this unit, students will examine how the future is tied to Canada's current abilities to manage resources and economic activities effectively. This involves examining connections between Canada's geography and resources, and its influence on Canadian and international industry and economy. Students will also explore the future of Canada, and will use the geographic inquiry process to analyze information and answer the questions of where they think Canada's future is headed. They will create plans using data in order to answer how Canada can effectively manage resources , while also reviewing different economic sectors, investigating the importance to the Canadian economy, and how these sectors are influenced by international trade.

The Sustainability of Resources: analyze impacts of resource policy, resource management, and consumer choices on resource sustainability in Canada
Industries and Economic Development: assess the relative importance of different industrial sectors to the Canadian economy and Canada’s place in the global economy, and analyze factors that influence the location of industries in these sectors
The Development of Resources: analyze issues related to the distribution, availability, and development of natural resources in Canada from a geographic perspective
