Unit 1 - Introduction to Canadian Geography and Mapping Skills
Unit Description
In this Unit, students will understand and learn to use the geographic inquiry process in order to investigate and answer questions surrounding issues in Canadian geography. They will learn to formulate questions, gather and organize information/data, interpret and analyze the information/data, evaluate and draw conclusions, and lastly, communicate their findings using different formats that suits the purpose and the audience.
Students will learn to look at their surroundings from a geographical perspective. They will learn how to apply terms and concepts in their everyday life, as well as in their work. Furthermore, students will learn how geography can help develop their skills and they will learn to use geotechnologies in geographic thinking, by learning to read maps, use GPS, GIS, etc.
