Unit 4 - Changing Populations
Unit Description:
This unit revolves around Canadian populations and demography. Students will examine the populations of Canada in different geographical areas, and how changing populations, in the world, and in Canada, impacts our country, as well as the rest of the world. This unit specifically takes a look into several topics, including population trends, migration, immigration, ageing populations, and urbanization. Students will use geographical inquiry to answer the main question of the unit, why are changes in population patterns over time critically important?

Population Issues: analyze selected national and global population issues and their implications for Canada
Demographic Patterns and Trends: analyze patterns of population settlement and various demographic characteristics of the Canadian population
Immigration and Cultural Diversity: describe the diversity of Canada’s population, and assess some social, economic, political, and environmental implications of immigration and diversity for Canada
