Instructions: Follow the steps outlined below, to write a personal narrative. 

  1. Select a Significant Personal Experience: 

    Choose an event or experience from your life that had a profound impact on you. This could be a moment of triumph, a life-changing decision, a challenging obstacle, or a memorable journey. Ensure that the experience you choose is meaningful and holds personal significance.

  2. Reflect and Brainstorm:

     Spend time reflecting on the chosen experience. Think about the emotions, thoughts, and lessons you gained from it. Consider the following questions to guide your reflection: ( Document your answers to each questions) 

    • What led to this experience?
    • How did you feel before, during, and after the experience?
    • What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them?
    • What did you learn about yourself or others through this experience?
  3. Create an Outline: 

    Organize your thoughts by creating an outline for your essay. Decide on the structure of your narrative, including the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Ensure that your essay has a clear beginning, middle, and end.

  4. Write Your Narrative Essay: 

    Develop your narrative essay based on your outline. Write in the first-person point of view (using "I") and use descriptive language to paint a vivid picture of the experience. Engage your readers by incorporating sensory details, dialogue, and introspective commentary. Aim to convey the emotional depth of the experience.

  5. Edit and Revise:

     After completing the initial draft, take time to revise and edit your essay. Pay attention to grammar, punctuation, and clarity of expression. Ensure that your narrative flows smoothly from one point to the next.
