  1. In this chapter there are four stories of indigenous children: Curtis White Fox, Arden Little Light, Sheila Jack, and Shane Big Canoe. What do all of these stories have in common?
  2. The last paragraph of the chapter begins “St Germ’s scraped away at us, leaving holes in our beings.” (p. 52) What literary device is used here, and what do we learn about what happened to the children at the school?
