Activity 3.1.5 – The Five Stages of a Plot
Make a submission
The Five Stages of a Plot in Borders.
- Introduction of character(s)
- The situation: Initial conflict
- The generating circumstances, which create a Rising Action – a heightened sense of anticipation for the reader
- Climax - highest point of anticipation – a “make or break” moment for the main character.
- Falling Action and Conclusion. These two are also known as a denouement.
In this activity, you will re-read Borders and map out the Stages of the Plot in the story. You should paraphrase the Plot, although you can also cite lines in the short story instead, as long as the five (5) stages of the plot are clear
