Present an Interesting Place or Monument


Research an important place or monument from around the world, create a PowerPoint presentation. You will make a presentation  to the class.


Assignment Instructions:

  1. Choose a Place or Monument:

    • Pick a famous or interesting place or monument to research. Examples include:

      • The Eiffel Tower (France)

      • The Great Wall of China (China)

      • Niagara Falls ( Canada)

      • Stonehenge ( England)

      • Machu Picchu (Peru)

      • The Taj Mahal (India)

    • The place can be from your home country or another country that interests you.

  2. Research:

    • Use the internet, books, or other resources to gather information about your chosen place or monument.

    • Focus on these key points:

      • Location: Where is it located?

      • History: When was it built or discovered? Why is it important?

      • Cultural Significance: What makes it special to the people of that country or the world?

      • Interesting Facts: Share at least two unique or surprising facts about the place.

  3. Create a PowerPoint Presentation (4–5 Slides):

    • Slide 1: Title Slide

      • Include the name of the place or monument, your name, and a picture.

    • Slide 2: Location

      • Show where it is on a map and briefly describe its geography or surrounding area.

    • Slide 3: History

      • Summarize the history or origins of the place.

    • Slide 4: Cultural Significance

      • Explain why it is important to the people or country, or how it is used today.

    • Slide 5: Interesting Facts

      • Present at least two fun or surprising facts.

      • Add images to make your presentation visually appealing.

  4. Prepare a 3-Minute Presentation:

    • Practice speaking about your topic using your slides as a guide.

    • Use clear and simple language.

    • Make eye contact with the audience and speak loudly and confidently.

    • Focus on explaining the main points and avoid reading directly from the slides.


Presentation Day:

  • Time: Each student will present for about 3 minutes.

  • Questions: After each presentation, classmates can ask 1–2 questions.

  • Grading: Your presentation will be graded on:

    • Clarity and organization of your PowerPoint slides

    • The accuracy and completeness of your research

    • Your pronunciation, speaking fluency, and engagement with the audience
