Career Research and Oral Presentation

Due Date: Monday 30 September, 2024


For this assignment, you will  research a job you are interested in and prepare an oral presentation. You will describe the job, the education and skills required, and why you are interested in the job. You should also include a short description of a famous or well-known person who does this job.

Instructions: Follow these steps when preparing for your presentation

  1. Choose a Job:
    Select a job that interests you and that you may want to do when you are older. 

  2. Research:
    Find information about the job using the following points:

    • Job Description: What does a person in this job do on a daily basis?

    • Education and Skills: What qualifications, degrees, or certifications are needed? What skills are important for success in this job?

    • Famous Example: Find a famous or well-known person who does this job and include information about them.

Think: Why are you interested in this job? What makes it exciting or meaningful to you?



  1. Prepare  Your PowerPoint (PPT):
    Create a simple PowerPoint presentation (about 5 slides) that includes:

    • Slide 1: Title slide with your name and the job title.

    • Slide 2: Job description 

    • Slide 3: Talk about what you would do each day in the job

    • Slide 4: Education needed.

    • Slide 5: The type of skills that you need to do this job ( example- good at drawing, very organized)

    • Slide 4: Information and picture of a famous person who does this job.

    • Slide 5: Why you are interested in this job.


Include pictures to make your presentation more interesting.

Remember not to put too many words on your ppt slides

  1. Oral Presentation:
    You will give a  5 minute oral presentation using your PowerPoint. Speak clearly and practice beforehand. You will be graded on:

    • Pronunciation and fluency.

    • Details about the job

    • Use of job-related vocabulary.

    • Clarity and structure of your presentation.

    • Information and pictures in your ppt
