Below are some questions to consider when discussing the topic of homelessness. In pairs, discuss your assigned questions, then write your answers. You do not need to conduct research but may do so if you wish. DO not copy sentences from the internet. Explain your answers in your own words.

Understanding Homelessness:
- What does the term "homelessness" mean to you?
- What are some common stereotypes or misconceptions people might have about homelessness?
Causes of Homelessness:
- What are some of the main causes of homelessness?
- How do factors such as poverty, lack of affordable housing, unemployment, mental illness, and addiction contribute to homelessness?
Personal Perspectives:
- Have you met someone experiencing homelessness? How did it make you feel and how did you respond?
- What do you tend to think about when you see a homeless person? Why do you think this way?
Homelessness in the Media:
- Have you seen examples of homelessness being portrayed ( shown) in mainstream media (TV shows, movies, novels and stories)? If yes, which media format, and how were homelessness and its effects portrayed?
- How can media help us better understand the experiences of individuals experiencing homelessness?
Impact on the Individual and Society:
- What issues do homeless people face, that others do not?
- How does homelessness affect the wider society?
