OVERALL EXPECTATION(S):
Understanding Media Forms, Conventions, and Techniques: identify some media forms and explain how the conventions and techniques associated with them are used to create meaning;
Reflecting on Skills and Strategies: reflect on and identify their strengths as media interpreters and creators, areas for improvement, and the strategies they found most helpful in understanding and creating media texts.
Learning Goal(s): I will be able to demonstrate my knowledge and understanding about what makes a great photograph if I chose that project or what makes an insightful video if I chose to create a short video.
Success Criteria: I am successful when the quality of the project I choose demonstrates that I have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills.
Unit Assessment Description:
For this unit assessment, there are two options to choose from, this is Option 1: Photography.
OPTION #1: PHOTOGRAPHY
You will create a Street Photography Exhibition consisting of 10 photographs (either in colour, black and white or both) on a theme of your choice.
The photographs must be a recent one and taken by you. Paste each photo onto a single sheet with a one sentence caption plus a 2-5 word title and the date the photo was taken.
On a separate sheet, write a one page description explaining your theme, why you chose it, and how you feel each one of the 10 photographs in your exhibition addresses that theme.
You should also include some personal and technical information about any challenges you faced while taking those candid shots on the street. The teacher expects the description should be at least 225 words long.
