From my perspective, community living is a non-profit program that advocates for people who have an intellectual disability to be fully included in all aspects of community life. It is extremely essential because it provides a supportive environment where people can learn to live independently while building social skills. For instance, this program serves and advocates on behalf of more than 12,000 members across the province of Ontario. Additionally, living in a community setting can reduce feelings of isolation and increase a sense of belonging. Overall, community living programs can significantly enhance quality of life and promote independence.
