 1. When starting a new habit, should people start small or big? Why?

In my opinion, people should generally start small when beginning a new habit. Starting with a small because large changes can feel overwhelming, leading to burnout or discouragement if results aren’t immediate. Small steps help create a sustainable routine, making it more likely for the habit to stick.

2. What is “pairing” and how do you use it to start a habit?

Pairing is the technique of attaching a new habit to an existing one. By linking the new habit with something you already do regularly, you’re more likely to remember and complete the new habit.

3. What is accountability and how do you use it for habits?

Accountability involves having someone (or even a group) to whom you report your progress on a habit, or who participates with you. This external support helps you stay committed and motivated.

4. If you want to eat healthier, how can you optimize your environment?

Optimizing your environment to eat healthier means setting up surroundings that make healthy choices easier and reduce temptations for unhealthy ones.

5. How can people overcome bad habits?

To overcome bad habits, people can use strategies such as identifying triggers, replacing the bad habit with a positive alternative, and using safeguards. It’s helpful to become aware of the situations or emotions that lead to the bad habit and avoid or change them.

6. What is a safeguard? Give an example.

A safeguard is a plan that helps prevent you from falling back into a bad habit or going off track with a good habit. It usually involves setting up an "if-then" rule to prepare for challenging situations.

7. What is the difference between an abstainer and a moderator? Which one are you?

An abstainer is someone who finds it easier to give up a habit or temptation entirely, as they struggle with moderation once they start. A moderator, on the other hand, can manage occasional indulgences without losing control and feels deprived if they have to give something up completely. In my view, I'm kind of abstainer because I always feel boring while I'm on track to do something, now I'm training my patience everyday.
