Do you intend to use public datasets for your business analysis and planning? If so, what types of public datasets are you interested in? (100-200 words)
I’m planning to use public data to dive into the history of fashion brands, designs, and styles. I’ll focus on tracking major fashion houses like Chanel and Gucci—how they started, key milestones, and how they evolved over time. I’ll also look into iconic fashion designs and collections that changed the game, like Dior’s “New Look” or McQueen’s avant-garde pieces. It’s fascinating to see how designers influence trends and push boundaries with their creative work.
Another big part of my project will be the evolution of fashion styles, from flapper dresses in the 1920s to the grunge look in the 90s. I’ll explore how culture, politics, and celebrities shape these trends. For example, how hip-hop impacted streetwear or how sustainability is influencing fashion today.
I’ll collect data from fashion archives, online fashion databases, and even social media to understand the trends better. To present my findings, I’ll use charts, timelines, and maybe even interactive tools like Tableau or Python to show how fashion has changed over time.
Overall, this project will give me a deeper understanding of fashion’s history and its connection to culture, politics, and society. It’ll be fun to connect all the dots!
