1.Aphrodite’s original plan was to make Psyche fall in love with a hideous man as punishment for being so beautiful. However, the plan went wrong because Eros, the god of love, accidentally fell in love with Psyche himself.
2.Eros’ deal with Psyche was that he would be her husband, but she could never look at him or try to discover his true identity. As long as she kept this promise, they could live happily together.
3.Psyche must go to the underworld because Aphrodite gives her the impossible task of retrieving a box of beauty from Persephone, the queen of the underworld. When Psyche opens the box out of curiosity, she falls into a deep sleep until Eros rescues her.
