1. What is Orpheus' claim to fame and what happened on his wedding night?
Orpheus was famous for being an insanely good musician, like his music could move people, animals, even rocks. On his wedding night, tragedy hit because his wife Eurydice got bitten by a snake and died.
2. What deal did Hades and Persephone make with Orpheus?
They told him he could take Eurydice back to the living world, but only if he walked in front of her and didn’t look back until they were both out of the Underworld.
3. How does this story end? What do you think the message is?
It ends kinda sad. Orpheus got impatient and looked back too soon, and Eurydice disappeared forever. I think the message is about trust and patience and sometimes if you can’t wait or if you doubt too much, you lose what matters most.
4. Discuss a time impatience got the better of you.
For me, it was when I was baking cookies. I didn’t wait long enough and pulled them out too early. They were half raw and totally gross. If I’d just chilled for like 5 more minutes, they would’ve been perfect.
5. Orpheus' strongest skill was his musical ability. What would you say is your strongest skill? What do you enjoy about this skill and how can you get better?
I’d say my strongest skill is drawing. I like how it helps me relax and also express my ideas. To get better, I think I just need to practice more and maybe try out different styles instead of sticking to the same stuff.
