I also used to be the "siren song" because it conveys the exhaustion of trying to become what other people expect. The "bird suit" and her mythical role resonate with me because this causes me to remember those times when I tried my best to be someone that wasn't me. Listening to other people's expectations drove me crazy. e. Her frustration, the desire to drop the act and stop pretending, feels familiar.

The poem also makes me think about vulnerability and manipulation. The siren's secret is that she pretends to be helpless, making each listener feel special and chosen. I've felt that pull before, both wanting to save someone and wanting to be saved myself. Atwood demonstrates how easily we fall for flattery and how our need to be unique can blind us. It serves as a reminder to pay attention to the "songs" around me and question whether they are genuine or just another trap.
