Activity 1.1.3- Discussion Forum: Renee Montgomery's TED Talk
In every lesson, there is a Discussion Forum that is related directly to the learning goals set out for the lesson.
The teacher will provide a number of questions for you to answer in writing in complete sentences. I am expecting at least 200 words of response will be posted to the questions asked. In addition to sharing your thoughts and reactions, you are also required to respond to the comments posted by at least three (3) other students. You can agree and/or you can “respectfully” disagree with their thoughts and reactions in a way that may sometime move the discussion into new directions. Reading all the posted comments and participating in a back-and-forth discussion is a way to acknowledge that learning from other students is as important as what the teacher offers. Although you can’t actually speak with one another as in an oral discussion, writing back and forth in the forum can be just as effective.
You will be marked and graded on your participation in Discussion Forums (from time-to-time throughout the course) according to a rubric that the teacher will develop and post after observing the two Discussion Forums in Unit 1.
