Glossary- Homelessness


  • shelter -  a structure that protects you from the elements and gives you a place to live.
  • vulnerable -  capable of being wounded or hurt
  • homeless- If you're homeless, you don't have any place to live — you might be without a roof over your head, or even without a country to call your own.
  • Misconception - A misconception is a conclusion that's wrong because it's based on faulty thinking or facts that are wrong. 
  • instability- Instability is the quality of not being stable, balanced, or predictable.
  • insufficient- If something is insufficient, it isn't enough
  • domestic violence- violence or physical abuse directed toward your spouse or domestic partner; usually violence by men against women
  • vicious cycle- a problem or difficult situation that creates new problems which then cause the original problem or situation to occur again.
  • isolation  - completely alone
  • eradicated- To eradicate something is to get rid of it, to destroy it
  • substance abuse-  excessive use of drugs or alcohol
