Lecture 2.5.3 - Post–Colonial Perspective
Lecture Overview
For the purposes of the lesson 'Post-colonial poetry' means poetry written by non-European peoples in the shadow of colonialism, both after independence and in the immediate period leading up to it. A Post-colonial Perspective also looks at the broader interactions between European nations and the societies they colonized by dealing with issues such as identity (including gender, race, and class), language and history. Because native languages and culture were replaced by European traditions in colonial societies, part of the post-colonialist writer’s goal is reclamation. One effect of colonialism is the creation of refugee problem
