Lecture 4.1.1 - Let’s Get Started with the Introduction
Lecture Overview
We’ve heard and read a number of writers in the last unit talk about fictional writing – short stories and novels and we can learn a lot from them.
The first STEP is to sit down at a keyboard and GET TO WORK!
Step TWO: Brainstorm. Write down all the ideas you can think of that could relate to the topic. Of the essay you’ve been assigned
Step THREE: Topic
The Basic 3 Paragraph Essay. This first lesson is a very basic introduction. In Lesson 4.2, there will be more details and a template that will guide you step-by-step through creation.
Teacher talks about the following:
- Introductory Paragraph
- Body Paragraphs (3 or more)
- Conclusion Paragraph
STRUCTURE FIRST before you write.
The Introductory Paragraph (Hook QUOTE/FACT/ANECDOTE) … General Context…. /IF ABOUT TEXT - author and name … 2-3 key ideas to be developed in the THESIS / The Thesis – your belief, can be argued by someone else who could disagree. (NOTE: Include some of the objections in your essay to argue against them.
