Lecture Overview

In this first lecture, you will think about "What makes some speakers more interesting to listen to than others?" You will also begin to identify what ideas in an oral presentation such as a speech are important. Moreover, we are going to examine a variety of speakers and their presentation strategies: The speaker's presentation strategies will provide clues to convey their message such as stressing words - repetition - gestures (i.e. body language) - speech volume - using rhetorical devices, etc.

By the end of the lesson, you will be aware of some of the most effective presentation strategies and be able to use them successfully when it is your turn to make a short presentation in future lessons.
