  • Using Personal examples and experience engages us;
  • Varying the mood of the talk engages us;
  • Pausing allows us to take in the information and think about in for a beat;
  • Using Repetition ... Repeat, Repeat, repeat .... makes a point stand out as being important and worthy of remembering.

As teachers we use lots of visual aids. Visual aids help focus our eyes as is part of active listening. In the next activity the speaker uses humour, body language and a few well chosen slides to organize his TED Talk and keep his audience listening and responding.
