Review of Elements and Principles
Collaboration:
1. There are some clear similarities between the elements of art and principles of design. Contrast is similar to value, proportion is similar to space, and white space is similar to form.
2. Hue is a color's name and it is on the colour wheel and 3 qualities are: hue, intensity and value.
3. Linear art works emphasize clear, distinct lines and outlines, and painterly art focuses on the application of paint, texture, depth, emotion, and movement.
4. The five lines are:
- Vertical: expresses strength and determination
- Horizontal: can express calmness and serenity
- Straight: convey a sense of stability and seriousness
- Curved: are more fluid and soft
- Diagonal: can add dynamism and tension
5. The actual texture can be touched and the simulated texture can be seen but not touched.
6. By painting shapes with light and dark values.
7. Symmetrical balance which means that one side mirrors the other one.
8. The composition may lack a clear focal point or direction, and might confuse a viewer. It might become less engaging or impactful.
9. Unity is achieved by repetition of similar shapes, lines, patterns and colours.
