In your opinion, should news reports be written and published only by professionals trained in journalism, or should the everyday citizen be allowed to post "news" stories if they see or learn of something happening in their neighbourhood?

I believe that news stories should only be written and published by professionals trained in journalism because professionally trained journalists are usually highly educated and experienced in fact-checking to ensure that the information presented is accurate. And ordinary citizens have the potential for false or misleading reports to spread easily, potentially causing harm or contributing to misinformation.

In my opinion, both professionally trained journalists and everyday citizens should have the opportunity to contribute to news reporting. While trained journalists bring expertise, objectivity, and ethical standards to their work, citizen journalism offers diverse perspectives and the potential to uncover local stories that may not otherwise receive attention. However, it's essential for citizen journalists to adhere to ethical guidelines and verify information to maintain credibility and accuracy in their reporting. Ultimately, a combination of both professional and citizen journalism can enrich the news landscape and promote a more comprehensive understanding of current events.

I think both citizens and professional writers can publish news. Professional news writers will write from a more official and professional perspective, and because it is official, it is more authentic and credible. Non-professionals, on the other hand, are more likely to write from their own point of view and their veracity is subject to scrutiny.
