Unit 1 - Oral Communication (6 Hours)
Unit Description:
This unit consists of two lessons – Active Listening and Effective Speaking. It emphasizes literacy and communication. Students will analyse several examples of effective speakers to determine the tools, techniques and strategies they use to engage their listeners. With these case studies, students will learn how to become active listeners. Students will also create oral presentations, both informal and formal, that demonstrate their ability to use effective communication techniques. An important focus will be on using language with precision and clarity and incorporating stylistic devices appropriately and effectively.
