      • demonstrate comprehension of specific information in detailed, complex directions, instructions, and classroom presentations 
      • demonstrate an understanding of complex authentic texts in a variety of ways
      • identify different features of texts and explain how they help readers understand the text
      • locate information from a wide variety of print and electronic sources


      Writing:  write complex texts to convey information and ideas for academic purposes using a wide variety of forms

      • use correctly the grammatical structures and conventions of written English appropriate for this level


      Learning Goal(s):  By the end of  today's lesson you will be able to 

      • Use before, during, and after reading techniques
      • Read a complex text about a shark attack survivor 
      • Respond to questions about the text
      • Create a poster presenting important information from the story 
      • Conduct research on the internet about sharks, and document the most meaningful information
