Activity 4.3.4 - Comparative Essay First Draft

Make a submission

Write a first draft of your comparative essay based on the teacher’s feedback and submit it to the teacher for further comments.

Elaborate and expand your Essay Assignment before submission for final marking. Have you checked off all the following in your preparation?

  • Chosen a meaningful title 
  • Brainstormed an outline   
  • Written in the present tense and in the third person. 
  • Written a clear thesis statement in one or two sentences at most that is your opinion but it can be opposed by others 
  • Began your essay with a good "HOOK" (a quote, a statistic, an anecdote)   
  • Included one or more quotations from the text in each body paragraph that will support your points           
  • Avoided too many plot summaries in your essay          
  • Each point in your essay supports your THESIS, and reminds the reader of that fact in the concluding sentence of each Body Paragraph    
  • Summarize your main and secondary argument in the final conclusion paragraph using different words.       
  • Included a last sentence with a meaningful SO WHAT statement
  • After completing the writing, have read your writing aloud to listen for and correct awkward wording, misspellings or problems with the flow of ideas?
