You will be assigned to read a vignette that we have not read together in class. Here is the list of assigned vignettes. Choose one to read (first come, first serve)

1.     The Earl of Tennessee Pg 70-71.

3.     Four Skinny Trees. 74-75.

4.     Rafaela Who Drinks Coconut & Papaya Juice. 79-80

7.     Beautiful and Cruel. Pgs 88-89.

Make a 2-3 minute oral presentation ____ NOT A POWERPOINT ____(1) briefly summarizing what happens in the vignette you read, (2) point out any interesting literary devices you see, or tell the class about anything else you think reflects Cisneros's unique writing style.

If you think the vignette has a theme - describe it. Does it fit in with any other theme that is developed in the novel?

I want you to share the vignette page(s) on screen so the class can see the story as you talk about it. Highlights and annotated marks can be included on the page.

PRACTICE ! ... PRACTICE ! ... PRACTICE YOUR PRESENTATION SO THAT IT IS NO LONGER THAN 3 MINUTES AND NO SHORTER THAN 2 MINUTES.
