This presentation will help you gain a better understanding of budgeting. 

You are going on vacation to a cottage in Ontario. Once you are at the cottage you will NOT be able to leave for anything. You will be there for one week (7 days). 

You will create an Excel Spreadsheet (or equivalent in another format such as Word, but this may be difficult) to create a budget for your week on vacation. Think about everything that you will need to spend money on for your week away. This includes food and things such as transportation (ex: gas for a car), clothing, shoes, games (ex: board games, water games, etc.) and anything else you want to buy before going. 

For food prices look up grocery stores online and find the weekly flyer for certain price. You can also search the grocery store website for prices. 

Do the same for other items. 

You will present your spreadsheet AND answers to the class on Monday, March 28th. You will submit your spreadsheet and one page answering the following questions: 

1. Which item cost the most? 

2.  Are you surprised by the total amount? Why or why not? 

3. Do you think you could budget for any trip now that you've done this? Why or why not? 

Presenting - Tuesday, June 18 - this should be 5 to 10 minutes - you will present your spreadsheet and answers to the class.
