Instructions: You are a news reporter and your editor has given you an assignment: Write a report about child labour and sweatshops in the clothing industry. 


All the information that you need is found in the Scholastic article “ Why Are Your Clothes So Cheap?”  Do not search the internet for details. Do not copy text directly from the article.


Review the article and choose any aspect of the topic that is discussed, then write a 1-page news report providing details about that event or situation. 


Complete and submit the news report template. It is worth 25% of your grade.


To be successful, your news report will have the following:


  • a headline, byline and dateline
  • at least one picture with a caption 
  • a lead sentence (who, what, where and when)
  •   at least four body paragraphs  no longer than two sentences, offering more details (how and why + 2 quotations)
  • Some background information about the topic
  • a concluding paragraph (what’s going to happen next/final statements)
