I think Nora is similar to Mrs. Mallard in The story of an hour. They are both bound by social attitudes and the role of the husband in the family. They are all identified as someone's wife, someone's mother. Mrs. Mallard couldn't get freedom until her husband died, Nora, on the other hand, is constantly denied her dignity and independence as a human being.
