The three reasons are need to abolished :

 1) Lack of Democratic Legitimacy: Senators are appointed, not elected, which undermines the democratic principle of representation by the people.

2) Redundancy: It might be argued that the Senate's function of offering "sober second thought" on legislation is unnecessary because the elected House of Commons already thoroughly examines and debates laws.

3) Cost and Inefficiency: The Senate is an expensive institution, with senators receiving generous salaries and allowances. The millions spent on maintaining the Senate could be better allocated to other priorities that directly benefit Canadians.

Three reasons I think it  should be kept :

Federalism and Regional Representation: The Senate was designed to provide a voice for regional interests and protect the rights of smaller provinces.

Legislative Review: The Senate adds a second level of scrutiny and analysis from a different angle, perhaps improving the quality of laws, while the House of Commons ballotizes legislation.

Checks and Balances: As an independent body, the Senate acts as a check on the power of the elected House of Commons and the Prime Minister's Office,  it's helping to prevent potential abuses of power or hasty decision-making.
