1. What is the Employment Standards Act? What does it cover?
The Employment Standards Act was created to promote healthy, safe workplaces, encourage a safe, timely return to work and provide insured benefits to workers who get injured on the job. It is administered by the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board. It cover hours of work, breaks, overtime pay, minimum wage, maternity and paternity leave, leaves of absence, benefit plans, vacation time and pay, termination of employment, and workplace health & safety

2. What is a bargaining agent? What is a collective agreement?
A bargaining agent is a person or group, often a labour union, chosen by workers to negotiate with their employer about pay, work hours, and benefits. A collective agreement is the resulting contract from these negotiations, outlining the terms of employment and ensuring fair treatment for workers.
