2. People see Mrs. Strangeworth as a kind old woman. They respect her, smile at her, and think she is harmless, but she is not.

3. She writes these letters because she feels it is her duty to "protect" the town. Another reason is that she likes the feeling of power and being able to control people to listen to her.

4. I think this revenge is just because she finally got what she deserved. However, it is not entirely appropriate because destroying her roses is only revenge, not true justice, and it causes more pain.
