.

The town is small and quiet. Everyone knows each other and acts friendly. I think Jackson picked this place because it looks nice on the outside, but inside there are secrets. That makes the story more shocking.

.People in town think Miss Strangeworth is a sweet old lady. They respect her family name and think she cares about the town. Nobody guesses she is the one sending mean letters.

.She writes the letters because she thinks it’s her job to warn people about “evil.” Another reason could be that it makes her feel important. Maybe she is also just lonely and has nothing else to do.

.I don’t think the revenge was really fair, because ruining her roses doesn’t fix anything. But at the same time, she wasn’t fair to others either. In the end, it feels like she got back what she gave out.

.I feel a little bad for her because she lost the roses she loved. But honestly, she brought it on herself. She hurt people first, so it’s hard to feel too sorry for her.

.I think Jackson wanted to show that even normal towns and normal people can have hidden evil. She wanted us to think about how gossip and judging others can cause real harm.

.I agree it’s still true today. On social media, people spread rumors or say mean things without showing their names, just like her letters. Words can still hurt a lot, even online.
