What is personality?

Personality is the combination of people’s personality traits that lead to the way people think and act.

Question 2

Why is it useful to know people’s personality?

There are two reasons, one is to know people’s objective strengths and weaknesses. Successful people focus one their strengths. That being said, it’s important to improve on the weakness so that it isn’t causing big problem in  lives. Another is to know how to create synergy with them. Personalities helps you understand other people who are different from you. That understanding helps create harmony and synergies.

What two personality traits does DISC measure?

It measures how we interact with people and how we interact with work. Basically it’s asking 1.When you are with people, are you more outgoing or reserved; 2. When you are doing a team project, are you more task-focused or people-focused.

Summarize the 4 personalities in DISC using your own words.

The Dominance-Type people are natural leaders, they love doing challenging tasks and implement the tasks efficiently.

The Influence-Type people have strong people skills and cherish inter-person relationship more than tasks. They are good at talking and encouraging people. 

The Steady-Type people are very stable and care about other people’s feeling. The are good at maintaining harmony with people, but sometimes they may become pushovers. 

The Conscientious-Type people are reserved and tasks-oriented. They are careful and can always focus on details.

Which DISC profile are you? How do you know?

I am Influence-Type. I know this by doing the DISC test.

 

Summary:

By using DISC test to know what our personalities are, we can improve our communication with others, have more harmony in teams and choose work that matches our strengths. Also, it helps us to get rid of our prejudices towards others’ weakness. Last but not least, it lets us know what our weakness are, so that we can improve on it to a point that it will not bring us too much trouble in our lives.
