The greatest global challenge in business, trade and human rights is balancing profit-driven global trade with upholding human rights standards—a struggle for present and future. Many international businesses prioritize low costs, exploiting workers in developing nations with unfair wages, unsafe factories and child labor, while weak cross-border regulations let such abuses go unpunished. Trade deals often overlook human rights clauses, widening inequality. For example, fast-fashion brands sourcing from unregulated factories violate labor rights, and loose global oversight fails to hold them accountable. This rift erodes trust and creates an unjust global economic system that’s hard to reform, threatening equitable development worldwide.
