The greatest global social challenge today is climate change, as it exacerbates all other crises and disproportionately harms vulnerable communities worldwide. Rising temperatures fuel extreme weather—droughts destroy farmland in Africa, floods displace millions in Asia, and heatwaves endanger lives in Europe—eroding food security and housing stability. It deepens poverty, as low-income nations lack resources to adapt, and widens inequality by targeting marginalized groups first. Climate change also strains healthcare systems with climate-related illnesses and conflicts over scarce water/land. Unlike single-issue problems, it intersects with poverty, healthcare, and social justice, making it a root cause of global instability that demands urgent collective action.
