1. What’s the difference between inner and outer expectations? Give an example for each.

Inner expectations are promises you make to yourself.

Example: Deciding to exercise three times a week.

Outer expectations are expectations from other people.

Example: A teacher giving homework that must be finished.

2.What’s the motto of each Tendency?

Upholder: “Discipline is my freedom.”

Questioner: “I’ll do it if it makes sense.”

Obliger: “You can count on me, and I’m counting on you.”

Rebel: “You can’t make me, and neither can I.”

3. What is the percentage split of the Four Tendencies among the general population?

Obliger: about 41%

Questioner: about 24%

Upholder: about 19%

Rebel: about 17%

4. Which Tendency has the hardest time accomplishing their own goals? Why?

Obligers.
They meet outer expectations easily, but they struggle with inner expectations, so they often need accountability from others.

5. Which Tendency is the most difficult to work with? Why?

Rebels.
They resist both inner and outer expectations, so they don’t like being told what to do and may refuse tasks.

6. Summarize the key characteristics of each Tendency in your own words.

Upholder: Follows rules and schedules easily and meets both personal and external expectations.

Questioner: Needs reasons and logic before doing something; if it makes sense, they will do it.

Obliger: Very reliable for others but may struggle to do things for themselves.

Rebel: Values freedom and choice and doesn’t like expectations or rules.

7. Which of the Four Tendencies are you? How do you know?

I am closest to a Questioner.
I like to understand the reason behind rules or tasks. If something makes sense, I’m motivated to do it, but if it doesn’t seem logical, I question it.
