Group Activity: “Market to the Right Customer!”
Purpose
To help students understand how marketing changes for different age groups (Youth, Gen X, Baby Boomers, Seniors).
Divide the class into 4 groups
Assign each group ONE market segment:

Group Setup


    • Group 1: Youth

    • Group 2: Generation X

    • Group 3: Baby Boomers

    • Group 4: Seniors


Task

Each group will create a simple marketing plan for Gym membership


What Each Group Must Decide

(Write or draw slide)

  1. Target customer (Which age group?)

  2. Advertising platform

    • Social media, TV, newspaper, flyer, email, etc.

  3. Message

    • What words or ideas will attract this group?

  4. Design

    • Colors, pictures, style

  5. Price strategy

    • Discount, premium price, bundle, value deal


Presentation (2 minutes per group)

Each group presents:

  • Why their ad fits their market segment

  • How it is different from other groups


Class Discussion Questions

  • Why can’t one ad work for everyone?

  • Which group used social media the most? Why?

  • Which group focused on trust and safety?
