Guidelines for Online Contributions - Discussion Forum

Most of the learning modules in this course will require you to engage in conversations about the learning content with your peers as a whole class or in small study groups of about 3 students.  Therefore, your responsibilities for the course include taking an active collaborative role in the discussions that we have.  We are a learning community and therefore depend on one another for our intellectual growth.  As such, we will use these discussions as a way to gain insight, be analytical, and be supportive of one another as we move through the course content.  Y

What Makes a Strong Conversation and Discussion?

  1. As high school students, understanding of the course content is demonstrated more through reflectivity and thoughtfulness rather than remaining passive and silent with little evidence of your understanding or learning;
  2. Your contribution will advance the topic in the discussion;
  3. Your contribution relates to the course content or offers new resources and insights
  4. Your contribution brings personal experiences and real world examples as a way to embed the knowledge into context.
