MATH REVIEW: MATHEMATICAL MODELS
4 Basic Types:
- Linear
- Quadratic
- Inverse
- Square root (radical)
Straightening a Relationship
- It can be prohibitively difficult to analyze non-linear relationships.
- If we are able to make the non-liner "look" linear then we use \( y=mx+b \) to easily analyze it.
- We can do this linearization by
of the graph.
The following results were obtained from Chris during a ski trip.
- Plot the graph of the results. Straighten the graph if required.
- Determine the equation of the graph
- If Chris hadn't wiped out, how fast would he have been traveling after 12.5 seconds.
