Reading or watching the news daily is important for staying informed about current events, which can impact various aspects of life. Being aware of news helps individuals make informed decisions, stay engaged in their communities, and understand the world's complexities. If people stopped reading the news, they might become less informed, potentially leading to uninformed decisions, decreased civic engagement, and a limited understanding of global issues. It could also hinder accountability of those in power, as an informed public plays a crucial role in holding leaders and institutions accountable. Regular news consumption is a cornerstone of an informed, engaged, and democratic society.

Reading or watching the news every day is vital to our lives. The news not only keeps us informed about the world, but also promotes social participation. Through the news, we can keep abreast of the latest political, economic and cultural developments, engage in social dialogue and recognize different points of view. If we stop reading the news, we may become information-isolated and vulnerable to bias and misinformation.
